The Beloved (pbuh) and being prepared

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

All praise be to Allah, and may peace and blessings be upon the most noble of the Prophets and Messengers

We’ve all been in situations, that when we really want something, there is an element missing which prevents us from getting that which we want.

For example, imagine there is an excellent course you want to apply for, but you know that your parents won’t allow you to go. You could decide not to apply at all, since you already know the answer, or you could go ahead and apply anyway, and make sure you have all the provisions ready… just in case. Or you know you have a lot of time to prepare for an application; you could leave it until the last minute, or do it as soon as possible.

The latter was the way of our Prophet (pbuh). (more…)

The Beloved (pbuh) and being in the service of others

Being in the service of others

In today’s world, the primary being that we serve is ourself. Of course many can disagree, and say we serve Allah, we pray, fast, give charity and so on. But in order to truly serve Allah, we need to be in the service of people too even if it causes us a little inconvenience.

This is closely linked with humility. We can all believe that we are not arrogant, but one way to test our humility is whether  we are ready to do things for others.

The Beloved (pbuh) and balance in what he ate

Salaam Alaikum

Muslims always speak about being a ‘balanced’ Ummah- indeed it is Allah who has called us “Ummatan Wasata”- a Middle Nation. But do we really practice what we preach?

It may seem strange to have an email on how the Prophet (pbuh) ate. But this topic is actually important, as the opposite of being balanced in our food intake is being excessive, and we know as Muslims we should not be wasteful. Allah says in the Qur’an:

O children of Adam! Look to your adornment at every place of worship, and eat and drink, but be not wasteful. Lo! He loveth not those who are wasteful.” (Quran 7:31)

The Beloved (pbuh) and the way he enjoined good and prohibited evil

We are all faced with situations when we see many wrongdoings around us. A lot of our reactions vary between harsh criticism, gentle admonition and/or silent acceptance. When wrongdoing is widespread, it is important to know how the Prophet (pbuh) behaved in such situations so we do not take the extreme path, but take the balanced way.
