Our Beloved (pbuh) and his legacy with the Companions (ra)

In the name of God, the most Merciful, the most Compassionate

All praise be to God, and may peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of God

Salaam alaikm

Apologies for the lateness of this! I have been running around the whole week. Also to let you know, I won’t be on email much for the next two weeks, so inshAllah I will try to continue this around mid-december.

Our Beloved (pbuh)

Our Beloved (pbuh) had a profound effect on everyone around him- his community, his family, his companions, and even his enemies. The effect that he has extends more than 1400 years to this very day, where many people around the world truly love him and want to be like him.

What explains the effect he has? He taught us our religion, and he came with revelation from Allah (swt), but as Allah says in the Qur’an:

“Thus it is due to mercy from Allah that you deal with them gently, and had you been rough, hard hearted, they would certainly have dispersed from around you…”

(Surat Aal-Imran, 3:159)

Our Beloved (pbuh) and his love

In the name of God, the most Merciful, the most Compassionate

All praise be to God, and may peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of God

This email is intended to, inshAllah, be a heart-softener. As the Prophet (pbuh) was a mercy to humanity, both Muslims and non-Muslims can learn from his example. But there are some things that he did specifically for us, out of love for a people he never met. For this reason at least, according to one da’iya, we should keep his memory constant in our hearts and minds.

The Prophet (pbuh) said:

For every apostle there is a (special) prayer by which he would pray (to his Lord). I, however, intend (if Allah so willed) that I would reserve my prayer for the intercession of my Ummah on the Day of Resurrection

Our Beloved (pbuh) and giving importance to others

In the name of God, the most Merciful, the most Compassionate

All praise be to God, and may peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of God

The Prophet (pbuh) said:

“May the mercy of Allah be on my successors”

The Companions asked, “O Messenger of Allah, who are your successors?”

He said,

“Those who revive and teach my sunna after my passing”

(In Ibn Rajab’s “The Heirs of the Prophets” (Warathat Al-Anbiya))

Our Beloved (pbuh) and Contemplation

This week’s topic is contemplation- of our blessings, of the world around us, of our deeds and of death. Our Prophet (pbuh) was always in deep contemplation and remembrance of God, and thus there is the greatest wisdom in it. The first revelation came when he was in Ghaar Hira’, meditating. He left the city so that he could ponder in solitude. So, we need to stop. Take a deep breath. Sit. And finally, reflect; especially when the world around is moving so fast and at times, causing us to forget.

The Beloved (pbuh) and consoling others

In the name of God, the most Merciful, the most Compassionate

All praise be to God, and may peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of God

This week, we will look at how we will need the Prophet (pbuh) on Judgement Day, and how we should follow his sunna in order that we do are not ashamed in front of him for leaving his way. We will also look at what the Prophet (pbuh) advised us to do when those around us are going through difficult times.

Under the Wings of Angels…

In the name of God, the most Merciful, the most Compassionate

All praise be to God, and may peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of God

The Prophet Mohammed (pbuh) said:

“Those who come together to remember God, Angels around them, and God has His mercy upon them, and their heart find rest & peace”

(Muslim)

What does it mean to be under the wings of Angels? How does it feel to have hearts filled with contentment and rest?
